Tech Skills Every Professional Needs
Professionals need to know the tools of their trade so they can serve their clients competently. That includes the technology they use to create, process, and deliver their work.
Working competently and efficiently requires basic tech skills like creating and managing documents correctly; keeping track of time accurately; working securely especially when mobile; responding to litigation demands effectively; and more.
Professional bodies encourage and even require familiarity and comfort with basic tech skills for lawyers, eg the American Bar Association in the US, the Federation of Law Societies of Canada, and the Law Societies of England and Wales and of Scotland in the UK. And increasingly, governments mandate basic tech competence for professionals working on client matters.
The LTC4 non-profit (Legal Technology Core Competencies Certification Coalition) provides excellent guidance and certification around basic tech skills for every professional, not just for lawyers. LTC4 certification enhances professionals’ credentials and confidence. Certification demonstrates that you have the tech skills needed to serve and protect the best interests of your clients, your firm, and yourself.
Working with LTC4 we can help you evaluate what skills need upgrading, develop a strategy designed to engage the people who will benefit, and implement a training/certification process that integrates with their day-to-day working lives.
